Hi, ive recently acheived a NVQ 3 in Hairdressing. Im trying desperately to get into a salon but i havent got enough experience and am finding it hard. I only done a part time course and was only in the college salon for 3 hrs a week. i feel very disheartened by the lack of training i receieved and have no confidence in myself. im 26 which is a difficult age as most salons would rather take on a school leaver than pay me nmw when im not experienced enough......IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO, ANYMORE COURSES I CAN DO TO FURTHER MY TRAINING? PLEASE HELP.....

Hi, so sorry to hear about your situation. I am currently in my last year of my level 2 and am very worried I will be in the same situation as you. I am 33 years old!I have been going into salons for free just to get some experience and get to know people. I'm hoping you have found something. Please let me know how you get on. This would all be alot easier if it weren't for the damned minimum wage!!! Good Luck, keep in touch. xx

Hey, i have just finished my level 3 but whilst i was completing it i had the same problem, but i would just advise you to go to any interviews and be abit honest with them about your experience and if they are a good salon they should help you out, as a lot of people have been in the same dilemma when they first started. Just go for it....Good luck x
