Non-verbal communication
Non-verbal communication
by chris the limey » 21 Oct 2010 07:55 am
Non-verbal communication can be just as expressive as speaking. Postures, distances and the way in which we hold our bodies are all ways in which we express ourselves. Indeed, many psychologists believe that a person's non-verbal behaviour can have more bearing on communicating feelings and attitudes than do their words. Thus, the client must always be treated in a pleasant and polite manner not only verbally but also by the body language that is used. The main areas to consider are:
• distance
• body posture
• facial expression
• eye contact
