The best way to do those loose curls?
by chris the limey 2 Years ago
I'm posting this in the students section becuase it's something I'd like to learn to do.

You know those loose curls that alot of women are wearing at the moment...what's the best (and quickest) way to do them? Surely there is a faster way than curling the end of each section with a brush and hairdryer?

I've heard that some stylists use ceramic straighteners to get the effect but I've not seen that done.

Any tips guys?

Thanks

This is what you do.
First do a full round brush blow dry.
Thenpin up the hair starting in the nape area, use the straightening iron, (preferably one with curved edges) and run it through the hair and curve it under at the ends.BRUSH THE HAIR WITH FINGERS ONLY. Spray and scrunch.

Sparks.

I found the article.

Section hair from underneath layers
Take first hair section and slide iron down the shaft to warm the hair shaft.
At base, place the hair between the plates , holding the iron at a 45 degree angle and turning it while laying the hair flat on the outside of the flat iron. Use your free hand to guide and hold the iron closed while manipulating it in one turn. The back side of the iron should now be facing you.
Slide the iron down the hair using even tension against its outer edge (this shapes the curl formation)
Keep the hair on the upper portion of the plates, making sure the ends don't slide out. slide the iron down from the shaft through the ends, maintianing the same angle.

The slower the movement, the tighter the curl.
Let curls cool and use fingers to style.

You guys are probably going to get tired of me posting already lol. I have a technique for this style that I just adore.

Beginning at the nape blow dry the hair using the round brush methiod, while the hair is still hot from the dryher) spray a small amount of working spray onto the hair and make a loose pin curl using a roller pin to pin the hair and move to the next section. (in 2-3 inch sections) The curls are allowd to cool off in the curl position while you are drying the remaining hair. Once finished allow the top section to cool for a few minutes and beging taking the pins from the beginning. The result is georgus waves all over the head. Your clients will love it and you take the curling iron step out of the style too....

Hope you like this technique

Cheers
