myhairdressers.com - hairdressing training by myhairdressers 1 Month ago Hi,
Just wanted to introduce myhairdressers.com - an online hair training site for hairdressers around the world - http://www.myhairdressers.com I'd love to hear your thoughts or any suggestions for things you want added to the site. ...here's a little background about the site... Lee Stafford (BBC Celebrity Scissorhands) does a "Cut of the month" training video and Stacey Broughton (former Creative Director of the Vidal Sassoon Advanced Academy) does a monthly 'Pure Foundation' training video. Two new step-by-step training video's are released every month. You can see a list of them at http://myh...com/training-videos.html You can also sign up to the newsletter to get alerts when new step-by-step video's are released. The first 23 training videos (12 cuts & 11 colours) are online and august's training video's are just around the corner. The site is subscription based and costs £100 per year. Also, there's detailed colouring video where Tracy Hayes, one of the world's leading colourists, shows exactly how the colouring was done for Stacey's Pure Foundation haircut ...and... more training video where Bee Dixon shows exactly how she does the colour for Lee's Cut of the month. Thank you! Mark Wilson http://www.myhairdressers.com Inspiring - affordable - education

Re:myhairdressers.com - hairdressing training by chris the limey 1 Month ago I'm going to jump in here Mark, and take you up on your offer of "I'd love to hear your thoughts or any suggestions for things you want added to the site."
I heard about the site a few days ago when we were in Live Chat here at HairdressingWorld.com (it was actually scissorwizzard above who told me about it). I signed up for the newsletter, and received my first "step by step" .pdf a couple of days ago. I wasn't overly impressed with what was offered (but then again, I am hard to please). So I came back here and asked a couple of the members (whom I know have used the site) if the latest colouring technique is pretty standard for what the site offers, or if it improves at all. Both of them told me that the technique was standard for the site's offerings. So I think that it might be a good site for those who haven't been on many colour courses or read many books or watched many DVDs in their career (not a critisim, just an observation). I think that you are asking too much money (£100 every year) for what is on offer. You put a couple of new techniques out every month, which calculates to £8.33 per month. A subscription to Hairdressers Journal every month offers step by steps and much much more for a lot lot less than that. But of course, the hairdressers journal is static, and not a "video presentation". Well, on eBay, I can buy this: http://cgi...81&_trkparms=72%3A12|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1318 for a grand sum of £4.99. "Fashion Forecast includes 6 step - by - step haircuts and expert finishing advice 3 colouring techniques 2 men's urban hairstyles - This collection captures the essence of youth culture, moving it forward with an eccentric twist. These styles are inspirational and practical ideas for your new seasons's work" So that's 11 new techniques in all for just £4.99 - that's a one off payment; I don't have to pay £4.99 every year! Infact, if I only learn 2 new techniques from the 11 on offer, it still works out better value. Not only do I not have to pay every year, but I also own the physical DVD. Whereas, if your website ever goes out of business, I would lose access to all of the techniques I had paid £100 a year for. Another benefit of the DVD, is that I can simply take my DVD player into my salons and play it for the staff training sessions. Using your system, it appears that I would need broadband in the salon and a computer to take advantage of that (broadband costs £10-£20 per month). See why it's a no-brainer for me as it stands? £8.33 plus £10-£20 a month for 2 techniques at your website is more in cost than one DVD from eBay every month, except each DVD contains at least 10-12 new techniques. So in conclusion, I think you should lower your annual subscription to £20-£30 (and offer a student discount). You should offer DVD's to your members each quarter for say £8.99 that contain the last 3 months presentations. And I think you should display 3 of the videos (more than 3 months old) on the front page of the site as a "sample". Don't blame me, you did ask!

Re:myhairdressers.com - hairdressing training by sizzorwizzard 1 Month ago I do agree with Chris this site is too expensive, and i was a bit miffed when our friend on the site told mr the downloadables are free. Also i have never recieved my free gift with the purchase, Also im amercian and my credit card was charged 199.00$ wich was more than expected... I also have done a bit more reasearch on other forums of education and you fee is high. I would have to say i wont be renewing next year unless, the down loads are charged for and the site is a bit more cost affective... Where is the flat iron promised to me for sign up.... MIchael
