We were chatting in Live chat yesterday about BIG hair.

It seems that here in the North West UK, younger girls (14-22) are asking for BIG hair (as in 1960's big).
They're keeping the sides straight, or tieing it up, but the crown is backcombed and beehived.

Is it a local thing? Is it a fad? Or is the long time fashion of smooth, sleek, texturised and messy finally moving over to something else for the foreseeable future?

I'm seeing a lot more big hair lately, but it's more of an 80's rocker, shaggy type of thing. Maybe yours is more of an Amy Winehouse-inspired thing? (Bee-hived crown)

Yes, Micheal...the POOF has been pretty big here for about 3 years now. Started out as a bit of a bump, like Tara Banks with the hair straight and the bump slowly growing into a POOF It;s cute and taken more from temple to temple rather then the old style kinda ear to ear. At prom time this past year we were adding waves with the flat iron making the POOF look at bit like and updated Bridget Bardot, then even bringing the flat swoop down and over one eye. Yes Coppa I see the Amy Winehouse influence too, same look but usually with dyed black hair and a few accent shocks of color. I love the look of the height teased in the crown and some more body in the hair again. We have been doing straight, flat micro HighLighted hair too long and it's just plain boring now. Lot's of really nice/fun short cuts in wow colors now too.
